FAQ

Do I have to be a homeschooler to join in on these Clubs? No. But it sure helps! We will meet in the mornings for our Nature Journaling Club that meets weekly. So being in public school makes that hard. But our Book Club could meet on weekends or evenings if that is better and allows more to join in. And the Wilderness Club will be held on a Saturday so Fathers can be involved. So, again, no you don't have to homeschool. But you'll make more meetups if you are. And the general philosophy we follow are more homeschool driven.

Will you meet year round?Yes! We will keep exploring and meeting up year round. Learning doesn't stop, it is ongoing. So plan on having stuff to come to all year long. There will be seasons of people sick or traveling, and we understand that and need to all be flexible as a community when things like that happen. But the goal is to have our clubs happening all year long.

Do we have to like nature?Yes! This is the goal of The Scrubby Oak School, to be outdoors! So, if you are not fond of being in nature the Clubs we hold might not be the best fit. Our Book Club may be the closest to non-nature goers. But we will most likely have the parties outdoors.

Do we have to pay to join in?The only Club that will require a fee sometimes is the Wilderness Club. There will be materials bought and time spent by the dad in charge and so a small fee will be required for that. But in general to join Scrubby Oak School there is not a fee. Active participation and helping out with events will be expected and enjoyed if you decide to join The Scrubby Oak School. Our Book Club and Nature Journaling Park meet ups are free to all.
